Athletic Mission

We believe that competition presents challenges similar to those that every person might one day face throughout life. Although these challenges may be on a smaller scale, the ways in which we overcome them and the lessons that we learn from them are the same. Kingsway's Athletic Program is dedicated to developing Christ-like character and giving our best to advance His Kingdom through sports. We strive to promote working together in oneness, to conquer fears, to overcome obstacles, to look for lessons and motivation in loss and humility and opportunity in victory... to honorably represent our Lord Jesus as Champions for Christ.

Christ-like Character

"But if anyone obeys His Word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in Him: Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did."  1 John 2:5-6

We believe that participation in interscholastic athletics should foster and cultivate traits of Christian character including diligence, responsibility, courage, loyalty, cooperation, self-discipline, good sportsmanship, competition, team play, and striving towards excellence. Moreover, we endeavor to show love, unity, mental toughness, respect, integrity, encouragement, enthusiasm, and a servant's heart both in and out of the athletic arena. Athletics provide a venue to build, to test, and to reveal these Christ-like characteristics as we strive to love God and love others.

Ambassador for Christ

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."  Col. 3:23-24

Athletics is a powerful ministry tool. We will encourage athletes/parents/coaches to view their abilities and roles as gifts from God and to seek out ways in which they can minister to others through their participation. Coaches/athletes/parents are challenged to consider practical ways in which they can serve and witness to others by using their sport as a platform for their ministry.

Competitive Excellence

"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who completes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever."  1 Corinthians 9:24-25

We are unapologetic that we strive to win... but winning is not the priority. The pursuit of excellence through daily commitment creates an environment of Competitive Excellence. How can I be better than I was yesterday? Winning becomes a by-product of this pursuit of excellence and not the end goal. Learning to "run the race" and "fight the battle" to the best of each players unique ability and role will define our pursuit of excellence in the competitive arena. Winning should be one of our goals, but we recognize that losing can present a beneficial learning experience. We will learn to give our best regardless of the score or opponent.
