Girl’s and Boy’s Dress Guidelines

 

DRESS GUIDELINES PURPOSE

To honor God with our whole person, including our appearance.

 

DRESS GUIDELINES PRINCIPLES

Cover from the neck to the knee without gaps or holes.

Avoid negative or offensive wording and graphics.

No tight-fitting, see-through, or sleeveless clothing.

 

Shirts—Polo’s, T-shirts, dress shirts/tops. Neckline showing no cleavage; camisoles may be worn to raise the neckline. Positive logos, words, and graphics are acceptable.

Outerwear—Cardigans, sweaters, hoodies, sweatshirts, and light jackets may be worn over approved clothing.

Pants/Shorts/Capris (any style, no holes) Shorts must be worn to the knee. No pajama pants of any kind. Athletic shorts and pants are acceptable – nothing tight-fitting.

Skirts/Dresses—Cover to the knee, neckline showing no cleavage. (Shorts are suggested under dresses/skirts for playground activities.)

Tight-fitting clothes (leggings, tights, spandex, etc.) must be covered to the knee. Tight fitting tops must be covered with an additional loose-fitting garment.

 

Hair

 

Hair should be clean and combed or neatly brushed and of a natural color. No extreme hair fads such as Mohawks, etc. Boy’s hair should be off the collar and above the eyes. Young men should be clean-shaven.

 

Footwear

 

All footwear is acceptable but attention should be given to safety and type of activity.

 

Jewelry and Piercings

 

Girl’s may wear earrings but may not wear other visible pierced jewelry. Boys may not wear earrings or other visible pierced jewelry.

 

School Sponsored Special Events Attire

 

Chapel Days—Same dress guidelines as every other school day. (Every day is a day to worship & honor God.)

 

Athletic and School Events—Regular school attire is not required HOWEVER students are expected to dress modestly and with good taste at all Kingsway events.

 

Field Trips and School Programs—May require special dress. Please check with the faculty sponsor for appropriate dress for the event; if none are provided, dress according to regular dress guidelines.

 

Swim Wear—On any occasion when activity calls for a swimsuit, only one piece, modestly designed swimsuits are permitted for girls. Boys swim trunks must be loose fitting. This includes PE swimming classes, band trips, mission trips, etc.

 

Formal Events—Junior/Senior Banquet, Homecoming, etc. Students may dress for formal events according to the modesty standards of Kingsway Christian School. Guidelines will be sent to parents in advance. Please use this opportunity to teach your child about modest dress and the importance of honoring God with his/her appearance.

 

Administration reserves the right to adjust Dress Guidelines in keeping with the Dress Purpose and Principles.
